Passive scans DIDN'T work with squad-sight, but they do now.
Could be that.
Could be they heard you. Either footsteps or decloaking (there's a sound which plays as soon as you switch away from the cloak).
Could be there was someone nearby with an active scanner and you missed seeing the "You Have Been Scanned" message. |

You just didn't notice because of all the active scanner spam. Or the fact that in Chrome there were just so many terrain errors that caused passive scans to fail- a few of those still exist btw. I was in a squad with friends in 1.7 as a Scout with passive scanning skills and range amps. I had enemies lit up on my sensors and HUD, and nobody in my squad could see them. When I was squadless or when we were talking on team chat instead of squad, nobody I could get comms with on my team was seeing my intel.
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Since the re-added Active Scanners, this has been consistent in every build for me up until 1.8.
Even now, chevrons don't appear for squadmates, so unless I'm close enough to light someone up inside the squadmate's passive scan radius, there's no benefit. I can share the data shown on the scanner, but not the HUD info. I also don't light enemies up by lining them up in my crosshairs, and being able to do that would be really beneficial. |

But it WASN'T how the game WAS working after the return of Active Scanners and before 1.8, which is what I stated, based on a good amount of testing in every build. |
